Bio

Kara Taylor plays the piano, harp, flute, piccolo, ukulele, guitar, dulcimer, tin whistle, and is a classically trained vocalist. Her passion is to encourage students in using their gifts for the glory of God. She aims to teach students theory and songwriting alongside their instrument so they are able to fully understand and create music of their own.

Kara's musical journey began with piano lessons at the age of four, and learned a new instrument each year. She participated in the Kennesaw Mountain High School marching band and was first chair flute and piccolo, soloist, and section leader of the National Champion band. She received the "Most Valuable Sophomore, Junior, and Woodwind" awards along with the "John Phillip Sousa Award".

Kara is a 2020 graduate of Berry College. Her bachelor's degree is in Music Education instrumental, vocal, and piano. She took piano under the direction of Dr. Kris Carlisle, voice with Ruth Baker, and flute with Dr. John Davis. She was a flute and piccolo player, and piano accompanist in the Berry College Wind Ensemble, and the student conductor and director of the auditioned choirs, Berry Singers and Berry Voices, alongside Dr. Paul Neal. Kara was a 2020 scholarship recipient of the "Rome Music Lover's Club Award" for her excellence in her senior piano and voice recital.

As a music education major at Berry College, she took methods classes to teach voice, piano, brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion instruments. Kara has played and sung in weddings, churches, retirement centers, and special services. In addition, she taught and performed in Nicaragua, Czech Republic, Austria, and South Africa.
After college, Kara taught middle school choir, and now is a high school marching band woodwind and drill staff, the Creative Director for the ensemble, "New Song", the Assistant Manager for The Harmony House, a wedding harpist. And songwriter/video creator on YouTube and Instagram. Kara offers virtual lessons in piano, flute, piccolo, ukulele, harp, and voice, as well as instruction in songwriting, how to lead worship/play worship songs, and music theory.
