Nate Banton is a trombonist that teaches all brass instruments, beginner and jazz piano, and music theory.
Nate began his musical training as a classical bass trombonist before expanding into jazz and contemporary styles. He continued his studies in Jazz at Valdosta State University. Through the years he has performed in a variety of musical settings including wind ensembles, jazz orchestras, small combos, chamber groups, and wedding bands.
His professional career has taken him internationally and includes time performing on cruise ships, where he collaborated with musicians from varying musical backgrounds, learned authentic genre styles, and performed for diverse audiences.
In his teaching, Nate emphasizes strong musical fundamentals, ear training, and theoretical understanding so that students not only learn how to play their instrument, but also understand how music works. Nate’s goal as an educator is to foster comprehensive, confident, and competent musicians while encouraging creativity, strong listening skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
