Rachel began studying violin through the Suzuki Method as a child along with her six younger brothers and sisters. Rachel went on to study at Florida State University and completed her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. With over 20 years of experience in Suzuki teaching, she is one of only a handful of teachers in Georgia who has completed all levels of Suzuki Teacher Training for Violin. In 2006, Rachel moved to New Zealand and founded the studio "Suzuki on the Shore".
Rachel has taught at over 100 workshops, festivals, and chamber music programs in the United States and New Zealand. Rachel served on the New Zealand Suzuki Institute National Board as an elected representative for over 12 years. She is now a board member for the Suzuki Association of Georgia.
She is passionate about building communities in education and excellence in music education. Rachel aims to teach each child to reach their full potential in music. Many of her students have gone on to study music in University and are now professional musicians around the world. Aside from teaching, Rachel is a mother of three wonderful kids. Having recently returned to Georgia after living in New Zealand for 17 years, Rachel is excited to work with The Harmony House.
The Suzuki Method is ideal for beginning violin and viola students from age 3-8. Rachel is also available to teach intermediate and advanced students of any age.
